Your first IPTV setup: from device to first picture

Start with the screen you will actually use

Write down the device model, operating system and available network connection. A television, streaming stick and phone may all support different apps. An Android APK is not an installer for every smart TV platform. Confirm the exact model before following an installation guide.

For Google TV, use the Apps tab or search for the app by name. If a supported listing is available, select Install. Google's app installation guide explains that flow. Availability in one store or region does not establish availability everywhere.

Separate the player from the service

The player displays media. The service supplies access to the content. Paying for one does not necessarily pay for the other. Before entering any account details, check the publisher and the player's supported formats. Obtain a subscription or playlist only from a source authorized to supply it.

Keep the first test simple

1. Update the device and restart it before installing the player.
2. Check the time zone and connect to your normal home network.
3. Choose the login format that matches the details supplied to you.
4. Enter the server address exactly, without adding spaces or guessing a port.
5. Let the initial programme guide and category import finish.
6. Try one live item and one on-demand item that you are entitled to access.

Keep the output resolution and decoder on their defaults until you know what happens in a normal session. A stable baseline makes later changes much easier to evaluate.

Check more than a successful login

Return to the home screen, close the app and reopen it. Confirm that your profile loads again and that the remote can navigate favourites and categories. Listen for audio, check subtitle controls if you need them and compare the programme guide with a known schedule.

Ask a precise question when something fails

Record the device model, app version, time of the failure and exact error text. Say whether every stream fails or only one. Keep full playlist URLs, passwords and tokens out of public posts. Our community question form gives you a place to explain the setup and what you tried.
